The Influence Of Henan Opera Music On Erhu Art

Henan is unique along China’s long cultural history with its special geographical environment, humanities and historical environment, becoming the main representative of the Central Plains’ culture, especially the opera art which is flourished in the period of the two Song Dynasty forms its own opera art form of Henan opera. Henan Opera (such as Yu Opera, Quju, tune and Henanzhuizi, etc.) was deeply influenced by the Central Plains’ culture, which is the ancient drama culture of the world together with the Greek Drama and India Opera. Besides, Henan opera has a long history, a variety of drama types, exquisite and vivid performing style. Henan opera music has sufficient space for development on account of Henan’s representative regional culture and its unique geographical environment. Throughout the current developing situation of Chinese national music, the Erhu artistic works which are based on the Henan Opera learned a lot from the essence of Henan opera music in performing styles and techniques, and gradually formed a unique style of the art of Henan erhu music. The style of Henan erhu music is mild, simple, bold, beautiful and charming, with a strong artistic appeal. Erhu music in Henan style has a different treatment in playing techniques and performance.This paper discusses in four chapters,The first part Introduction.The second part This part comprehensively describes the forming background of Henan opera music, and inquires into regional, cultural, folk custom of it and the origin of its development, also, the classification and characteristics of the opera will be involved in this part. The development, classification and the formation of characteristics of Henan opera and the regional, cultural and folk characteristics of Henan are inseparable. It can be said that Henan is the birthplace of Henan opera, and Henan opera enriches the culture of Henan and people’s lives. The development of Henan opera makes Henan contains profound cultural deposits.The third part The impact of Henan opera on erhu art. This part investigates the impact of Henan opera on erhu art in tunes and materials of Henan opera. The reason why erhu repertoire in Henan style has strong regional characteristics and customs is that it can not be separated from the local dialect, historical and cultural characteristics, folk music, opera music and local material.The fourth part This part sets specific repertoire as an example, investigating factors of Henan opera in Henan erhu music. The erhu repertoire which contained Henan style such as "Henan song", "in Northern Henan Ballade" and "the Journey to Yuxiang", from the technique to the playing style, combining with the background of music creation to interpret its far-reaching influence on the creation of Erhu music.In the conclusion part, through the research on the art of Erhu which integrates Henan opera style, a conclusion can be drawn that the creation of Henan erhu art cannot do without the closely related Henan local opera. This thesis mainly reveals the deep medium of the Henan erhu art, which is the potential characteristic of art’s survival and root knot of all the art’s survival as well.
