On Causes Of Fei Ming's Poetic Novel

Fei Ming is a unique writer in China's modern literature history. He kept away from the politics and cultivated"his own plot"lonely and persistently. He created the Promethean Poetic Novel by fusing poetic language, poetic form and poetic connotation into the novels. His pioneering works expanded the scope of novel style and injected new blood into the development of modern novel pattern.For many decades, especially since 1976, scholars did the detailed research centered on poetic features of Fei Ming's novels, such as its innovative representation, its value and significance, etc. But only a few people studied the roots of poetic style about Fei Ming's novels. Why did Fei Ming write novels with the poetic style? The reasons were various and complicated. The thesis analyzed the causes of Fei Ming's poetic novels elaborately from four parts,that is:internal cause, external cause, the effect of traditional culture and west culture.There was an indiscerptible connection between Fei Ming's poetic novels and his diffident character, his literature views and aesthetic pursuer,which were the deep internal reasons for him to choose the poetic style. The contemporary writer such as Zhou Zuoren and Lu Xun also affected Fei Ming's literature creation and this can be looked as the external cause. Fei Ming like traditional culture very much,he often read the chrestomathy of all classes of authors in Pre-Qin Period, the books of Buddhism and Zen, Tang poem Song iambic verse and poetic prose of Southern and Northern Dynasties, these were another important cause of his poetic novel. Besides, Fei Ming also absorbed the expression skills from West culture such as stream of consciousness and symbolism and he benefited a lot from the novels of George Eliot, Great Shakespeare and Thomas Hardy. All above were the complexes causes for Fei Ming to write novels with choosing unique poetic style and they were an integral whole. Among the causes, Fei Ming's own character is the pivotal factor. Fei Ming was a melancholy, sentimental and inimitable guy. This kind of unique character has a strong influence on his literature creation and also affected his hobbies, choices and decisions in all aspect during his entire writing life.
