The issue of peasants has always been a fundamental problem of China's revolution, construction and reforms. At the end of the forties of the twentieth century, the most fundamental reason of KMT's failure to rule China was to lose the peasants' support. This paper will compare Mao Zedong and Chiang Kai-shek's theory and practice on the issue of peasants during 1920 to 1940. Chapter Two talks from two parties on the issue of peasants, then raises Mao Zedong's and Chiang Kai-shek's views on the peasants at different times——the ten years' civil war, Japanese occupation period, and the Full Civil War. In the Last Chapter, it draws a conclusion that we should draw lessons from history.Hope this study, not only can enrich the treasure-house of Marxist theory, but also gives a more objective way to evaluate the historical figures' performance. At the same time, mining historical data, combing historical context, can provide a better solution to the problem of "Agriculture".
