Zhang Ailing and Somerset Maugham have obvious gender bias which is the undoubted conclusion between the two writers and their works. But as a feminist, why she is so deeply attached to Maugham's masterpiece? There is almost always something beyond the obvious.The introduction outlines the marginalized current situation of their novels'study and comparison of academics for years, imperative of deepened research and new topics, the significance and the feasibility of their gender awareness study.The first chapter:Analysis of the Causes of gender bias. Their gender bias is the declined reality that the respective sectors they belonged to and the nostalgic culture in the surging tide of the era cast a distorted projection in their psychological. The fact that isosexual must bear some responsibility in their ecstatic declined history of the culture coupled with the particular traumatic childhood experiences, which makes the different role-playing develop to a new extreme, then become the abyss beyond redemption in their life.The second chapter:derogatory nature of the isosexual writing.Through the analysis of specific texts, inspecting possible subversion of the isosexual building the independent world from their cultural origins. The third chapter:the loss of isosexual world. From the tragic experience of deep inner life, Eileen Chang subvert the feasibility of insane deeds that women build the independence world.Nevertheless,Maugham from external men's rights perspective denied the possibility of women building an independent world. Over thousands of years'repression have been internalized into the subconscious women servility,which is never-changing source of the tragedy for long. In this sense, we can not reach the understanding and compassion for women, also men can not escape the tragic fate.Conclusion:there have been a "insurmountable wall" all the time between men and women, which is a great tragedy for human being.
