Jane Austin, the famous female writer, who had been acclaimed since the publication of her works for her vivid and exquisite description of characters and her skillful irony techniques, was well-deserved to become an outstanding representative of the British women writers in the 18th century. "There is no reason not to feel proud of her in women literature". Roland . Barthes, a representative of structuralism, said in Zero Degree of Writing, "Writing is still full of memories of earlier idioms", "all my previous writing and even my own obstinate residual effects in writing still envelop the status of my vocabulary." Perhaps it is true that the works of Jane Austen have the features of "previous recall". So, her novels give us a similar sense. Her six novels that from title and name to plot, character, and environment are very similar.A very clear sense of model is ready to come out, so the structuralism, which pays attention on the relationship between various factors of the inner system of a literary text, is suitable to analyze. The theories in this paper are as follows:the binary opposition of the structuralism criticism, functionalist school, action model, code analysis of the semiotic theory and so on, Therefore, we can view the six works of Austin as a system with connected structure, to find her narrative model:The shallow structure of the text:the law created by characters, plot, and environment; This will help us to understand the literary "signs" that makes literary texts different from the non-literary texts, and Austin's unique style. The thesis is divided into four parts, by use of the structuralism's binary opposition, functionalist school, action model, and the semiotic theory to interpret Austen's six works. The first part is the binary opposition:the title and character. By use of the binary opposition of the structuralism to analyze the titles of Austen's six works and creative features of the heroine. The second part is function and sequence:the narrative mode of love between ladies and gentlemen, including:1, using theories of the functions and sequences to explain the narrative mode between ladies and gentlemen that presented in Austin's works,2, selecting "the third party" as an important role in the love story to do the functional analysis,3, using "alignment program" to analyze the meaning of the identity of ladies and gentlemen; The third part is action element: types of figures; Interpreting the characteristics of the types of figures in Austin's works and analyzing their position in action model and their Important roles in the development of the plot. The fourth part is symbol: horses, rural area, and manors. By using the symbol research of structuralism to discuss the special meaning of horses, rural area, and manors in Austin's works, they are also important and essential compositions in "ivory piece".But the theory of structuralism has its own defects, such as neglecting personality but only focusing on commonality of the works. So in the fourth chapter, from the perspective of culture and history, the author applies Roland Barthes's code analysis to give the text a semiotic interpretation. I hope to make up for the theory's deficiencies wish the theory of structuralism can make full use of its "ability", which can reproduce the artistic charming of these classics, and also demonstrate their deep structure and meaning.
