Shen's novels have a distinct self, a lot of memories of narrative often flashing the "I" figure; later the "spirit roaming" text is also full of self-dialogue, these novels convey the author at different times of Sentiment--from the wallow in trivia in his own "I" to conscious life and the universe to the big questions, "I."
