Forgiveness has been studied in psychology for more than twenty years. McCullough et al. brought forward the prosocial change of motivation definition of forgiveness. They argued that the core of forgiveness is that the offended person's prosocial motivation change to the offender. This research studied personal and situational variances in forgiveness, and discussed the attribution's role in forgiveness.Study 1 confirmed the hypnosis's offence situation was valid and took a primal analysis in the variance's relationships. Study 2 discussed the dispositional forgiveness, empathy ability, relationship variance and apology's role in situational forgiveness, and testified the mediation effect of attribution. The main conclusions of this study research included:(1) Revised and tested the TRIM, TFS, IRI scales. Composed attribution scales, high responsibility, high blame-worthy and high intention means attribution to inhibit relationships restore. The opposite is attribution to promote relationships restore.(2) College students were investigated, dispositional forgiveness and situational forgiveness has no significant difference in gender. Age has significant differences in revenge motivation and empathy ability. Besides, students from city and countryside have higher avoid motivation and unforgiveness motivation than those from county.(3) Relationship valued, empathy ability, dispositional forgiveness has significant regression to situational forgiveness. Attribution is mediator in these regressions.(4) The attribution's mediator model has been testified.This study researched attribution's role in forgiveness and emphasized social cognition's effect on social behavior help us to understand forgiveness in the other point of view. And it enlighten the way to produce forgive in a certain extend.
