Ethnic and religious problems are two of the most important issues in the world of recent times, of both which Muslim and Islamic problems respectively take important part. While at the same time, the basic research on Muslim and Islamic problems which are lined by the zones or countries are the basis of the further analysis of separatism, terrorism and religious extremism. This is the international background of this thesis, mean, the study of American Muslim political behavior pattern.Specifically, American Muslim locates in the central zone of Globalization and modernization, and is also the Muslim group with the highest education level and the best relationship with government. Thus, as a religious minority, its political ambitious and political behavior pattern should be given special attention. American Muslim's political behaviors not only are not only defined by its domestic living space, but also has various relationships with US global count-terrorism strategy, policies toward Islamic countries, and the wide-spread of traditional Islamic political religious thoughts, which view point is defined in this thesis as a political role theory analysis different from the traditional ones. And also from this aspect of view, both 9.11 terrorist attacks and President Election in 2008 have profound influence on the political role of American Muslim and its future. This thesis follows the logic of political role—political behavior model. To begin with, this thesis introduces the political role theory, in which its "role expectation" thoughts could make up the losses in traditional analysis, to make a re-identification of American Muslim's political role. And then the political behavior model could be summarized following the two stages of role-answering and model-construction. At the end of this thesis, there is an analysis of the change of American Muslim political behavior model in the post-9.11 period and a prediction of it future development from the impact of 9.11 and 2008 President Election, which could be viewed as an expansion of the model. This thesis has a conclusion that American Muslim could not become an important political power in American society in the near future because of its comparatively small scale and limited political experience. Of course, the challenges which American Muslim is facing are a common start point of all social groups which have ambitious of being strong social and political power. It's just at this point that this study could also be used as reference of the understanding of other similar religious social groups'political behaviors.
