The structure "X+shi(是)"is widely used in mandarin Chinese. There is a big difference among the "X+shi(是)"group with different "X". And the function of the structure is different according to the level of grammaticalization in the same "X+shi(是)"group. Those differences caused by category of "X" and character of "shi(是)".The thesis analyzed the structure "X+shi(是)"in synchronic by the theory of discourse.semantics, and pragmatics, and analyzed the structure in diachronic by the theory of grammaticalization and cognition. The thesis consists of five parts as the followings.The first chapter is introduction part. It introduces the researching objects, the purpose and significance of the study, the study method, the rescourses of language datas and the literature review of past releverant studies.The second chapter analyzes the structure "X+shi(是)"in synchronic. It analyzes the structure in syntax, discourse and semantics. And it concludes the difference among the "X+shi(是)"group.The third chapter analyzes the structure "X+shi(是)"in diachronic. It studies the grammaticalization of the typical representative of "X+shi(是)"group.The forth chapter analyzes the grammaticalization procedure of four kinds of "shi(是)"from the Western Zhou Dynasty to the Republic of China, and their influence to Chinese language.The end chapter is the conclusion part. It concludes the opinions of the thesis and points out the direction of further studies.
