Under the influence of contemporary art concepts and social factors, independence and personal style are more and more obvious among artists, resulting in the great change in the appearance of their works. This essay reflects abstract presentation of figurative expression, analyses the influence of artists'personality on both figurative and abstract art, with the emphasis put on artistic attitude in contemporary art making. As artistic attitude changes, artists explore new ways in making abstract art. Artists are able to achieve abstraction with figurative style, and highlight the extreme personal feelings and attractive elements. The bold break up with content enables the abstraction to go into the kingdom of freedom and the deepest of the heart, and to bring reality and figuration to audience with common experience. Theories of abstract art of Roger Fry and Clement Greenberg has a huge impact upon later art practice. This style is in accordance with traditional Chinese philosophy and perception of art, therefore it will facilitate the establishment of creation of Chinese art and independence of artists, and deepen our thinking on abstract paintings.
