How Western Christianity Enters The Chinese Farmers' Life

Since reform and opening up, with the implementation of the policy of freedom of religious belief, Christianity in China, especially in rural areas, has been developing rapidly with a surge in numbers of Christians in rural areas, which becomes a noticeable social phenomenon in Chinese rural community. Christianity has been able to penetrate into rural China quickly, "encroach" on rural areas constantly, seize the "market" of the rural belief, and expand its followers, which are related closely with its dissemination strategy.This article intends to investigate and study religious organizations, individuals as well as religious activities and rites during the dissemination of Christianity, based on a Church organization in North China countryside, with its aim to demonstrate that Western Christianity's adaptation and localization in the Chinese countryside, and to reveal how Christianity enters the daily life of farmers.Christianity has been integrating with the traditional customs and culture of rural China. Christianity spreads in Chinese countryside in three ways, that is, Church organizations, Christians and missionaries, and religious rites such as marriage and funeral rituals, and other religious activities such as prayer, singing hymns, sermons, which contribute to Christianity's localization in Chinese rural areas.The successful localization of Christianity in rural China is greatly due to Christianity's secularization, to be specific, that is, the secularization of ways and content of dissemination of Christianity. However, it faces a number of problems to investigate the development of Christianity from the perspective of "religious market".
