The multi-culture background and rich life experiences of Africa, Latin America and other places of the world make Le Clézio, who is a representative writer of French New Fable Novel in the latter half of the 20th century, see more clearly the drawbacks of the modern western rationalism and materialism culture, thus in the beginning of his writing, he has expressed his concerns about human survival and global ecology, and showed the desire and fascination for heterogeneous cultures. The reflection of the modern western industrial civilization and the quest of the free and natural state are consistent theme in his works. In the late 20th century, the establishment and gradual improvement of ecocriticism provided a theoretical basis for the ecological interpretation of Le Clezio's works, and the ternary division about the ecology——the natural, social and the human spiritual ecology provided us a clue to study his works.Nature in Le Clézio's works has got free from the yoke of being objectified, being described and being enslaved by anthropocentrism, and become an organic unity which has obtained the subjectivity, the right to self-speech and the characteristics of living things. All of that are expressed in his non-anthropocentric depiction of natural world. Le Clézio has also expressed his concerns about modern social and human spiritual crisis, and thought the root of the natural, social and spiritual crisis was western industrial civilization, especially its dominant values——anthropocentrism, developmentalism and technology-first value, which broke the original harmony between man and nature, infinitely arouse the human desire for material, digested of human warmth and social fair, and made people a slave to machine and their desire, which led to the loss of individuality and subjectivity of life. All those drawbacks lead Le Clézio to nature and the exotic lands to look for the ecological harmony. The pursuit is mainly embodied as his image of natural man who is pure, emotional, and harmonious with nature and ideal social formation with equality and coexistence between man and nature. The natural man and the Camps society mainly constitute Le Clézio's ecological ideals. Both the description of nature and modern industrial cities, and the creation of ecological ideals are embodying profound modern ecological thinking. Some of his criticism of modern civilization is extreme, and the description of the ecological world is much idealistic, but that does not impede with his ideological and artistic works to bring people a state of profound reflection and inspiration.
