| Wan Shouqi is one of the leaders of the HuaiHai Adherents'Poetry School in the initial stage of Qing Dynasty, who is also one of the Two Adherents of XuZhou, the other one is Yan Ermei. There are many ups and downs in his life, encountering the changing of Qing Dynasty and Ming Dynasty. He took part in the battle against the qing army, then returned to HuaiAn, and never submitted to the qing dynasty since then on until to death because he love the former ming dynasty. He is versatile, knowing the poetry, essay, calligraphy and china painting. Besides, he also knows the craving and astronomy. Unfortunately, most of his works are missing due to the prohibited of the authorities. In terms of his poetry, they are stemmed from the reality and full of sympathy to the people, which makes his poetry characteristic by the time and the art.This thesis is divided into four chapters basing on the study of Wan Shouqi and his poetry. The life and idea, the poetry cradle, the content and the art of the poetry are the highlight of this thesis. The first chapter does some research on the objective and subjective reasons of Wan Shouqi's poetry achievement with the help of the poet's family. The second chapter analyses the poet's ideas and the cradle of his poetry. That's his ideas comprised of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, and the Confucianism is the stem of his ideas. Meanwhile his poetry style is the results of combining some kinds of the former poets, especially the QuYuan, Tao Yuanming, LiBai and DuFu, in addition to the DaLi Poetry School. The third chapter studies the content of his poetry, such as singing the ancient, recording the incident, presenting friends and describing the water and hills. Then the thesis reveals the ideas between the lines, such as the missing and suffering of the former Ming Dynasty, and the cherishing of hermitry. The forth chapter focus on the value of Wan Shouqi's poetry in the terms of the form, means and styles of the art. Besides, the thesis also shed light on the characters of his poetry, such as the varied themes, rich forms, and natural but solemn and stirring styles. Owing to all of the above characters, such as the nation integrity and his poetry, Wan Shouqi became one of the outstanding poets of the Early Qing Dynasty. |
