The Generation And Limitation Of Heroism

Existed studies on rural protest usually pay attention to the strategy during the process, but they fail to explain why rural protester show more heroism, and why they continue protesting after the event. Furthermore, they also can't account for the intense relations with protesters'family or friends. This paper from the perspective of"heroism", has emphatically studied the generation mechanism and internal limitation about heroism, and further has attempted to give an explanation to the above questions.First, this paper discusses the generation mechanism of heroism. It reveals that heroism is generated in the rural community in the early time. The activists don't protest only for themselves, conversely they take other villagers'claims into account in order to reconstruct the recognition in the community. Secondly, heroism is selected in the context of the governmental press. The government take measures to force the mass protesters exiting from the protest, however, the activists'confidence becomes more firmly, thus set the hierarchy of heroism. Furthermore, heroism gives birth to the pursuit of transcendent recognition. The feeling of energy after successes, the fame brought by outside attentions, and the friendship between protest activists stimulate their heroism, which constitute the basis of further protests. This kind of heroism develops into a style of life and protest. However, such a heroism also exists it internal limitations.In the following content, this paper discusses the internal limitations from individual and community levels, and interpret the intense relations among heroism, rural ethic, and modern citizen ideal. From the view of individual, the friendship originated from heroism develops into a personal relationship, moreover a appropriated and closed social relationship. So it doesn't develop out a public assistant mechanism. On the other hand, heroism takes apart from family livelihood, in such way conflicting with rural ethic. Looking into the community level, although the protest community set up the public assistant mechanism, heroism also result into the disillusionment of the heroism community. owing to the slanders behind each other and the deviation from heroism, which is the basis of the protest community.At last, resting on summarizing the whole article systematically, this paper re-examine the character of protest activist among relationships, the conception of heroism, and the research method applied in this paper.
