Among numerous national musical instruments, Sheng has rich expressive force, whose variability of sound color is paid more attention in contemporary Sheng performance. Consulting the relevant literatures, we find that the research of Sheng on sound color by current academic experts and scholars is still relatively insufficient, so we take variability of Sheng sound color as the key point of the research.Sheng's unique pattern has an important influence on its sound color. Sheng can play chord, create an effect of harmony, and in various musical forms, Sheng has advantage on playing sound color of chord, and has an effect on integrating other musical instruments. Performing skills can also affect the sound color of Sheng. During the performance, the sound color has all kinds of changes, by using different techniques. According to the different musical demands, players can use different sound color of Sheng fully and rationally, describe various musical forms, and express plenty feelings, which has an improtant effect on making musical expressive force rich.
