Comparing Tim Burton's film with "Gothic Novel", this article studies on narrative time flow and space structure two aspects as well as their aesthetic effect, emphasizing on the outstanding advantages of film in new time-space structure. It arranges and elaborates the development of film and the modern significance of "Gothic Novel" mainly from narrative theory. Through the narrative structural analysis of Tim Burton's film and "Gothic Novel", the discussion mainly emphasizes on the ability of films in space, virtual reality and time-space expansion. Thus, it stresses the enormous advantage of the films over novels in new time-space construction, narrative effect and aesthetic acceptance. But in the image creation and imagination soar, movie and novel, two kinds of narrative art, can be integrated to find the interaction between their ways of narrative expression. Also, it pointed out that the film's unique charm of narrative art is helpful in the inventive practice and theory innovation.
