New Spatio-temporal Structure Film is commonly known as “Time-travel Film”. Based on Montage, this kind of new films reconstitute the space and time-which is no longer single or one dimension but multidimensional or even disordered in the story. However, the reconstitution is not only reflected in the narration, but more principally in the plots of the story. Emerged in the beginning of the last century and be popular in the late of 1980 s, new spatio-temporal structure films experienced from pioneer to typification. Heretofore, it has formed a relatively independent style and presented an evident characteristic in the aspects of the plot pattern, character images setting and film language. As to the typification narrative pattern, new spatio-temporal structure films toke the time travel or time going-back as the principal spatio-temporal mode in the early stage; and in the 1980 s, it emerged a multidimensional spatio-temporal mode as the core of space variation. Having been developing and retaining for many years, these two patterns have their own narrative rules, nevertheless, they come down in one continuous line when tracing back into their internal logic and core spirit. With the differences of the classic films, new spatio-temporal structure films, breaking the traditional linear narrative structure and composing into a tempo-spatial crisscross structure with nonlinear narrative and with unfolding parallelly the multidimensional space, are a kind of post-modern deconstructive “anti-narrative” in essentially.Behind the films, it has abundant social-historical information and cultural connotation which is not only an embodiment of the culture clash between the modernity and post-modernism, but also a rich “home-coming complex”. It shows a complicated cultural dimension, for on one hand, it advocates to break the tradition and to deconstruct the classic films; on the other hand, it proposes to return to the original.
