Investigation And Research On Tsam Dance Of DaZhao Temple Huhehot

Tsam, the religious temple dance, was born as a result of communication and integration of Tibetan and Mongolian culture. Tsam dance not only contains profound religious ideas of philosophy, but also reflects a lots of Mongolian cultural elements. Tsam dance of DaZhao temple Huhehot has development of more than 400years. The author thoroughly investigates and studies the condition of tsam dance of DaZhao temple in 21st century, in order to provide academic materials for the studies on religious culture and Mongolian Budhistic belief.The research focuses on the tsam dance ceremony on The Lantern Festival (January 15th on Chinese calendar), takes natural investigation on the present condition of tsam dance and reveals the whole process of which.The paper, on the method of"describe—explain", reveals the whole process , studies the present condition and discusses the succession and developments of tsam dance.The paper consists of preface, 5 chapters and concluding remarks. In chapter 1 it tells the geographic and historical condition of Huhehot and DazZhao temple, important Buddhist affairs held in DaZhao temple. In chapter 2 it introduces the components of tsam dance, the orchestra, the notes of the Buddhist music, in a word, the audio circumstances of tsam dance. In chapter 3 it reveals the whole process of tsam dance, including the clothes and move of the dance etc. In chapter 4 it states the social function and esthetic feature of tsam dance. In chapter 5 it compares the tsam dance of DaZhao temple with the religious dance of The Lama Temple and the tsam dance of MiaoYin Si temple, in order to study the unique characters of tsam dance of DaZhao temple. In concluding remarks it discusses the issues of succession and development of tsam dance and some problems concerned with later studies in this field.
