The Development And Application States Of Contemporary Choral Art In China

As in the 21st century, all categories of art in China have developed smoothly and prosperously. And today, in the society of harmony, choral art have made a rapid progress with the valid support and efforts of government and people. Numbers of choirs have established and well developed not only in those professional schools or institutions, but among the masses as well. Choral art have made this unprecedented expansion with a relatively high level of the range, technique, and the amount of the participants and events, which can never be attained by other form of art.In 2008, the sensation of the contest of choirs section in China Youth Singing Competition held by CCTV was really beyond but also under expectation. The fierce competition sustained throughout the contest with such high attention and intense response. However, as a form of mass art, choral art have stood out as a primary way to show people's patriotic passion especially in 2009, the year of the 60th birthday of China.On the other hand, the progress of China's choral art is now widely recognized by the world, as the number of choral competitions of diverse content, forms and levels as well as some world-class competitions held in China is increasing rapidly. It also provided the opportunity for our choral artists to get to more new things, thus to pave the way to integrate and keep pace with the international development.Since choral art in China have such a good momentum of development and prospects into account, we should have a clear understanding and a more comprehensive grasp of choral art. We should know:What is the chorus? What features it has? What elements it contains? In the status quo of China's national conditions, what is conducive to the development of choral art and what might hinder or slow down the pace of its development? And what problems may turn up?Choral art was spread into China from the West last century, and developed with numerous twists and changes till now. So how many kinds of choral singing existed in China now? What are the characteristics that they have? What kind of application and development in this country with such vast territory, long history, and various cultures? Are there any possible problems need to be concerned? Why have these problems? Are we able to anticipate and avoid it? All these are what we should know and consider.This article is divided into four parts. The first chapter shows the induction and explanation in the contemporary form of chorus. Chapter 2 briefly talked on the overall development of China's choral art environment, including choral groups from the country, singing competitions, choral works, and choral conductor. Chapter 3 sucked all kinds of chorus mentioned in the first chapter, combined with the development in the environment in China that second chapter talks about, and discussed the current status of our chorus development and application, and as a whole to identify its development trends. Last but not least, chapter 4 summed up trends of China's contemporary chorus, by analyzing and discussing from chapter 3. At the same time, it put forward several practical recommendations to avoid problems that the author believes that there may exist.Author hopes to summarize a number of chorus types and their development states in China through personal knowledge of the year-round learning on chorus, and the observation of choral activities, which may be useful to whom it may concern.
