In the early days of Chinese Modern Poetry, Numerous literary thought that differed from times to spaces were imported. There was a tendency that many academic understanding were superficial.For instance, symbolist poetry itself, earlier poets tried to find common ground with Symbolism by following their sentimental moods and indulging blur or obscure image. Some poetic theorists addicted to aesthetic music and color superficially.Therefore the issue of Liang Zong Dai's poetic theory embodied special significance. In his opinion, symbolism was more a instinctive and creative free spirit than just a technique. He summoned sublimity to elevate the whole aesthetic ambit of modern poetry. Studies focused on Pure Poetry analysed his system root and branch, but few scholar combine his theory with temporary modern poetic circumstance to discover his unique contribution. This thesis reviewed his contribution of his poetic theory in the development of Chinese Modern Poetry form aesthetic angle.The thesis consists of four parts.The first part is exordium which introduce the background influence and study status of Liang Zong Dai's Poetry and Reality.The second part is the first chapter:Exceeding Aestheticism which commentate his abandoning hollow aestheticism and shallow point of view of beauty by analyzing Symbolism itself and Chinese poets'earlier superficial cognition. The third part is Declining Sentiment which uncover the flooding and feature of sentiment and decadence in modern poetry to combine sensibility and intellectuality to pursue free,pure and delighting ambit of poetry.The fourth part is Longing for Sublimity which discuss Liang Zong Dai's redefinition on Sublimity and its significance that enrich poetic objects,affirm poetic diversity and link with poetic aesthetic trend of 1940s'.
