The Research On Vocabulary Of Bronze Inscriptions Of The Zhanguo Period

In the Period of Zhanguo, the society underwent a profound revolution as the slavery system collapsed and the feudal system established. Economy, politics and culture of that time all experienced great developments. In the process, the ritual function of bronze eliminated gradually, they became everyday containers and weapons of the new feudal landlord. The content of the bronze inscriptions also changed, it became simpler and simpler than that of the Period of Xizhou. Complicate and long bronze inscriptions were seldom. Although these bronze inscriptions cannot directly draw a full picture of the vocabulary in Zhanguo Period, they reflect the development phase of vocabularies in Zhanguo Period. So, it's worthy for us to collect and study these bronze inscriptions of the Zhanguo Period.In my paper, I want to make a study on the bronze inscriptions of the Zhanguo Period. In the study, I will often refer to the previous study results, make use of the database and analyze the literature handed down from the same period. Through this study, we can achieve a systematic understanding of the Zhanguo vocabularies.My paper includes six chapters. The first chapter is an introduction. In this part, I will introduce the previous and present study of the vocabulary of bronze inscriptions in Zhanguo Period by others. Then I will explain the purpose of my paper and the material selection.In the second Chapter, I will make a classification of all the Zhanguo vocabulary. Substantives such as nouns, verbs and adjectives are classified by their means, while function words such as prepositions and adverbs are classified by their grammatical means. In the third chapter, I will analyze all the polysyllabic words appeared in the bronze inscriptions of the Zhanguo Period. In the fourth chapter, I will make a study on the synonyms and antonyms in bronze inscriptions. We all know that the bronze inscriptions were different from one region to another in the Period of Zhanguo. So in the fifth chapter, I will make a regional comparative study of the Zhanguo bronze inscriptions. As there were a lot of proper nouns such as official names and place names in the Zhanguo bronze inscriptions, I want to analyze the proper nouns in the Zhanguo bronze inscriptions.In my paper, I will try my best to draw a full picture of the Zhanguo bronze inscriptions and make a comprehensive study of the Zhanguo vocabularies. Because of the complexity of the material itself and my limited academic ability, there will be many shortcomings in my paper. I sincerely hope for criticism.
