Since the 80s of last century, the Chinese ideology and culture of modern academic attention has gradually been. However, most existing studies focus on the well-known ideological figures and groups, while local academics and research is relatively scarce. Intention to changing this situation,so I chose to study on Liu Xianxin, who was a modern historian in Si Chuan.Liu Xian-xin was involved in many academic fields, scholarly careful and precise, great writing. Most of his writings income Tui Shi Shu. But long secluded home corner, little exchange with the outside world, and died young, so future generations of its poorly understood. In this paper, through the study of Liu Xian-xin, from the academic history, local history and traditional historiography, and discusse his historical contribution. His scholarship is inseparable from the impact of family learning, a brief understanding of their predecessors and peers in the academic ideas and scholarly research, to better understand the academic activities of Liu Xianxin. Secondly, although historical research is Liu Xianxin academic focus of the study, but his research is holistic, but also involves other academic fields. We need to briefly look at his academic research in other areas. His academic history research, both traditional academic focus and inheritance, but also absorbed Western ideas, attention to the exchange and integration of Chinese and Western academic. His chronicles of study is added to history research. His traditional historiography is also full of features. Through his refutation to Liu zhiji's historiography, Liu Xianxi clarifies that the core of historical research is to fully appreciate the law of history. Meanwhile, Liu holds that if a scholar wants to get its clear picture,he must read those historical books conforming to the reality, which must include definite history of style. Liu's research is deeply influenced by Zhang Xuecheng. He considers himself as the student of Zhang Xuecheng in terms of historical research and widely spreads his teacher's ideas and further illustrates Zhang's notes and compilation. He brings up with the idea that compiling a historical book needs the ability to combine knowledge. He opens up a new world of "broad historical research" and builds his own unique historical ideology by introducing the concept of" RenShi Xue".
