Bunin's short stories in his transitional period have a unique and complete aesthetic value. Some of these short stories were systematically research as the later works, or some of them included in the early works, fewly as independent, the overall object. This paper intends to study them as a complete object, selecting the "lightness of breath", "Ah-chiang's Dream", "Night journey", "the cavalry lieutenant yelagina's case"and" Ida "as five representative works, starting from the narrative mode, focusing on three aspects of narrative features, such as time, focus mode and narrative layer. In Bunin's short stories in his transitional period, past alternates with present regularly, differences between them gradually counteract and move towards integration, leading to the dual nature of time series; at the same time, the narrative of short stories in this period often take the scene narrative, which make narrative time equal to the story time in the narrative movement. Traditionally, plot is the most important in scene narrative, however, the sense and philosophy are the most important ones in Bunin's scene narrative. In focus mode, the zero focus narrative of the non-physical form narrator tilts to inner focus of physical form narrator (character), when inner focus narrative achieves the maximum degree and exceeds its permission, it tilts to zero focus narrative of physical form narrator (character). Based on the characteristics of time and focus manner, his short stories in this period have also forms double narrative layers. Double narrative layers achieve narrative description of metonymy through dialogue, dreams, trials, diaries and so on, and the relation of double narrative layers is causal. Narrative Features of these three areas are not alone, rather a unified whole. These narrative features are determined by esthetic appreciation of a certain distance, and have been impacted by the main narrative power of love and survival desire. These narrative features have also been inherited and improved in Bunin's later works, and contribute to novels narrative mode in a certain degree.
