As one of the most prominent women writers after British post-war, Doris Lessing's life has been full of pursing fairness, justice, happiness, and writing. Lessing plays multiple roles by herself, which is like many female characters in her novels. She participates in a great many social and political activities, shuttles between various groups of left-wing writers, and takes part in numerous meetings……We are trying to analysis her, who is in the social activities, in the personal daily life, and in the process of achieving self-worth. Certainly, on the basis of classification of her life, we are hoping to have clearly understanding the nature and impact of pursuit.After reading research monographs at home and abroad, as well as analyzing and judging the research stage at home, we know some problems and inadequacies in Lessing studies. Through her memoirs and works, a Persistent woman is in front of us, who dares to face the social injustice, undertakes failed marriages, but never fails up writing. This paper will follow these three aspects—the search for social justice, the looking for happiness, and the pursuit of self-worth—to comprehend Lessing and her works. Especially, there will be reappear the theme of pursuit progressively.The first part is the pursuit of social justice. Around social and political activities of Lessing, we will respectively discuss her behaviors in race, class, gender, and unreasonable policies. So we can believe her pursuit in freedom and justice. Because of her belief, Lessing insists on humanitarian, democracy and freedom in the social and political activities.The second part is the pursuit of personal happiness. Looking back Lessing's life, we emphasis the relationships between Lessing and his mother, lovers, children and friends. In the process of network in relationships, we are aware of her pains and happiness. These also give her enough courage to face the frustration in the future.The third part is the pursuit of writing. Regressing Lessing's novels, we select some representative works—"The Grass Is Singing", "The Golden Notebook" and "Mara and Dann: An Adventure"—to conduct assessment. Therefore, we can see the pursuit of continuous creation and self-break of Doris Lessing. On the basis of understanding Doris Lessing and her works, We category her experience and writing life, then we will better know herself and her works. Therefore, Doris Lessing's unique and charming can impact us still. We may feel growth and happiness.
