The Wang Yangming's Views On Mind And Matter

The philosophy of heart rised while Neo-confucianism became rigid gradually in Ming dynasty. As the representative of philosophy of heart, Wang Yangming and his thought has a huge influence to people both at that time and after that time.Body and function not only is division but also is harmonious and most important is harmonios in Wang Yangming's theory. So he is different from Zhu Xi in the relationship between mind and matter, send out and no-send out,body and function,and so on.Wang Yangming has attracted a lot of misunderstanding from the later scholars in some propositions, in such propositions as nothing out of the mind, the unity of thought and action and so on.According to the previous research results of Wang Yangming, the paper thinks that the view of mind and matter is the philosophy foundation of Wang Yangming's schools.The scholars'different understanding or misunderstanding to Yangming's philosophy of heart is from different understanding or misunderstanding to Yangming's the view of mind and matter. Thus, this paper attempts to analyze the essence and the framework of Yangming's school of Mind with the way of ideological analysis, integration and comparison, and gives my opinons on the academic's arguments.Firstly, I put the concept of "mind" in Wang Yangming's theory into three different levels,such as emotional mind, cognitive mind and ontology mind. Especially in the third level from nature to content, ontology is discussed in detail, and also is the centralized reflection of subjective spirits and moral subjective spirits in Yangming's school of Mind.Secondly, the analysis of "matter" concept. I analyze the concept of matter, especially two basic ways of "matter" in Wang Yangming's theory to show dual natures of "matter" which form consciousness and sensory to say. There are two attributes when Wang Yangming say the "matter",they are the internal holy and eternal king,subjective and objective and both of them are harmonious.Thirdly, the chapter discusses the relationship between mind and matter, including heart-object monism, integration of things, and the extension of knowledge through the investigation of things in oeder to show the relationship between subject and object from three areas of the ontology, epistemology, efforts. At last, the analysis of view of mind and matter and the extension of innate knowledge. The extension of innate knowledge is the core of Yangming's philosophy of heart while Yangming's view of mind and matter is the foundation of ontology in conscience learning. I will analyze the relationship between view of mind and matter and uniting thought and action and good conscience in order to show the important role of the concept of mind and matter in the construction of good conscience school and also show the thought and action, send out and no-send out are hamonious.So, as the philosophical foudation of Wang Yangming's theory, view of mind and matter is the unity between mind and matter in ontology, and regulate the relationship between subject and object. Meanwhile, it is the academic basis and theoretical context of Yangming's school of Mind that shows the main spirit of the people and corrects the shortcomings of Neo-confucianism.
