This paper mainly takes the oral word of Zuxi and Lv zuqian's letters as the subject. Through search textual criticisms and explanations, enumeration and contrast the study attempts to outline a rough idea on words of letters and the basic appearance of oral words in Song Dynasty, so as to prepare essential knowledge for more comprehensive research on Chinese words of Modern Times.This paper divided into four parts:The foreword part mainly introduces the reason why this topic is selected, the current research situation as well as the content and method adopted in this study.The second part is defines the oral word. Based on Mr. Jiang Shaoyu's definition of oral words in Modern Chinese and taken characteristics of Zhuxi and Lv Zuqian's letters into account, the study gives a brief definition to the oral word. First, it refers to the words starting to use in Song Dynasty or those of which new meanings appeared since Song Dynasty. Second, these words are mainly applied in the literature of corresponding period and later with high level of colloquial style. Third, slangs and the dialectwords also belongs to the spoken language word.To sum up, the oral words in ZhuXi and Lv Zuqian's letters are the words beginning to use since Song Dynasty or words of which new meanings appear from Song Dynasty and widely be applied in the literature of the correspongding period and later with high level of colloquial style.The third part mainly makes textual criticism and explanation of these words, and then enumarates and gathers these oral words. This part includes four divisions:first, new words in ZhuXi and Lv Zuqian's letters, which must be put into use started since Song Dynasty; Second, new meanings of some words. Although these words started before Song Dynasty, the new meanings of these words just started since Song Dynasty; third, the oral words documented by the dictionary behind the times; fourth, the appendix collecting the words in ZhuXi and Lv Zuqian's letters that have been studied in some dictionaries or other papers.The conclusion part includes two divisions:one is a simple summary of this study, the other puts together the words that are explained clearly, hoping professors or experts can point out mistakes so that they can be corrected.
