With the combination of tea and literature, tea poem is a literary form which is simple but rich in cultural connotations.Through studying tea poems in Tang Dynasty, we can have an insight into scholars and men of literature's interests in tasting tea, meanwhile we can also discover cultural connotations in those poems.This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction.Mainly from thegreat perspective tea culture, tea poem on the status of current research.Then from the used of the tea's history, we can outline the teack of tea poem.Therefore, based on tea poems recorded in "Poem Collection of Tang Dynasty", chapter two summarizes and classifies tea poems in Tang Dynasty. It will also discuss content and artistic features of tea poems in Tang Dynasty in two aspects, namely narrating stories with music and expressing emotioms with tea. And this is the basis for chapter two and three.Scholars of literature appreciated tea,and they brewed tea in person. As there was a interest in drinking tea behind their appreciation of tea, they composed poems to expressinterests. Chapter three mainly focus on the "delight in drinking tea",and with the analysis of tea poems through men of literature'sinterests in admiring, brewing and drinking tea, this chapterdiscusses men of literature's pursuit of interest in their poems.Through further analysing tea poems,chapter four tries to sublimate "delight in drinking tea" from a sheer interest to an artistic conception. Poems discussed in this chapter are rich in cultural connotations. This chapter analyzes cultural connotations of Taoism,Buddhism and Confucianism in tea poems in detail. It also appreciate tea poems from the perspective of men of literature's pursuit of "Tian ren he yi", "Cha chan yi wei", "Qing li man bei".The last chapter is a conclusion. With the study of men of literature's interest and artistic conception in tea poems in Tang Dynasty, we can have an overall understanding about men of literature's appreciation of tea in Tang Dynasty, which also reflects how prosperous the tea culture in Tang Dynasty was.In a nutshell, there are many perspectives from which people can study tea culture. We can still further discover cultural connotations in tea poems from a macro cultural perspective which combines decorum and propriety in Confucianism and men of literature's pursuit of an easy life in seclusion. This article only from one entry point to start to be able to attract more scholars to pay attention to poetry and to make related tea-depth study.
