Marx said:"The morality is based on self-discipline of the human spirit." Self-discipline is the goal of individual moral development, also means a lot to social order. Moral self-discipline is not only an affirmation for the maintenance of social order, but also an improvement for the quality of individual morality. Into the 21st century, China and the West both were in hot water on the issues of moral self-discipline in varying degrees. So many Western scholars started to focus on Chinese Confucian tradition. At the same time, domestic scholars were studying and learning from the Western moral education to improve ours. The comparative Study of Sino-Western "self-discipline" meets the needs of the development of moral education and the social reality. Therefore, the theme of this paper is moral self-discipline. By comparison between Chinese and Western moral self-discipline, I want to find the regularity in order to improve our country's moral self-discipline education. What is self-discipline? For the concept of moral self-discipline, this paper mainly takes the mainstream of the academic point as a benchmark:Based on the recognition of the social norms and moral principles, the moral agents internalized these external moral demands into a moral quality, then explicit as a stable, continuous and voluntary ethical behavior. There three characters of moral self-discipline——it is internalized into moral principles based on the understanding and acceptance of the external moral norms, derived from the self-internal control of moral subjects in the face of the individual scenarios and it has pleasant moral good feelings. The essence of moral self-discipline is reflected in the following areas:the unification of the moral agents' subjectivity and moral principles' objectivity, the unity of the relative stability and continuous variability and the unity of the volitional freedom and the objective's non-free.From ancient times, both of a lot of Chinese and Western scholars have studied on this issue and formed a rich ideological content. They have a certain self-consistency, which mainly reflected in:it is the highest demand of moral developing, the study of human nature is the starting point and both emphasize the efforts of the individuals. Meanwhile, there are many differences between Sino-Western. In short, the difference of Chinese and Western self-discipline can see from the perspective of two aspects:First, on the relationship between autonomy and heteronomy, China has emphasized self-reflection to promote the improvement of moral standards, while the West promoted self-discipline through his laws with a consistent attention. Second, on the self-discipline itself, they are different in the content, form and basis.Comparison about moral self-discipline is to reflect and improve our moral education. At present, along with economic development and popularization of the network, many of the phenomena in our society highlight the plight of moral self-discipline. Based on the reference and absorption of East and Western thoughts, we shall perfect our moral education. First of all, cultivate self-discipline quality as the ultimate goal of moral-education and correctly handle the relationship between self-discipline and freedom at the same time. Secondly, we should follow several principles of self-discipline education. Finally, we can promote the individual's moral self-discipline through knowing, emotion, will and action.
