The Practice And Research On The Techniques Of Vibrato In Er-hu Performing

Er-hu is one of the most expressive and impressive Chinese Bow instruments. Although it is lack of wide range, but the sound is grazioso and closed to the human voice, and its dynamic of sound can be changed conveniently. Therefore it was called'The King of Chinese bow instrument' and 'Chinese violin' or 'Chinese two string fiddle'.Vibrato is one of the important expressive means and performing techniques of Er-hu. It takes the key role of revealment the meaning of the music, enhancing the expressive force of the art, and its function can not be replaced. We would say that bowing is a life of the performing art of Er-hu, and the Vibrato is its soul.This article tries to study and sum up the techniques of vibrato in Er-hu performing art systematically, with combining and consulting the same techniques in other bowing instruments, such as Ban-hu, Zhui-hu, Horse-head fiddle, Gao-hu, Jing-hu Zhong-hu and even, Violin, etc., and tries to put up personal opinions on issues of training of vibrato and style matching in Er-hu performance. I also would like to provide some references on enrichment of art expressing of Er-hu performing, prettification its sound color, open outing its implied meaning, and other relative subjects on Er-hu performing to the public.
