A Study On Wu Houyuan's Composing Concept And Teaching Of His Works "Su"

This thesis, a teaching study on a traditional Chinese music instrument Pipa solo "Su", contains 3 chapters, of which the first two serve as preparations for carrying out teaching research by reviewing and exploring "Su" academically. The first chapter introduces briefly Pipa composing in the 1980s on the purpose of analyzing the work academically by basing Wu Houyuan, composer of "Su", and his works on the given background. The second chapter analyses Wu Houyuan's concept of music, composing, background of the works and its artistic feature. The third chapter comes to concrete teaching design and applies the research results of the first two chapters to practice, which is a detailed teaching plan including four sections, namely setting of teaching objects, patterns and targets, practice of teaching "Su", after-class exercises and teaching reference, and teaching evaluation and measurement. By dividing the work into several parts and analyzing teaching process of each section, the thesis explores some problems with regularity in Pipa teaching, thus providing thoughts and models as well as an operable and practical evaluation system in the major of Pipa Teaching.
