Gao Weijie's technique of twelve-tone localized chords was derived from twelve-note intervallic technique, and was used as the primary artistic technique in Mysterious Dreams for Viola with Orchestra. This paper includes five chapters, which study the structural approach and organic method of the music work in various aspects from the history, constitution, and its application in musical works of the technique of twelve-tone localized chords, to the music form, tempo arrangement and rich musical texture variations, in the way of musical pattern analysis.The first chapter introduces some information of Gao Weijie, such as his achievements of music and growing up for readers. The second chapter introduces a summary of Mysterious Dreams for Viola with Orchestra. The third chapter details the history, constitution and the application of the technique of twelve-tone localized chords in this work. The fourth chapter analyzes the musical form of the work. The fifth chapter discusses the control of harmonic tensity in the facets of timbre arrangement, orchestration combination, strength comparison and melody trend.
