At the beginning of this century, about a hundred years from now, choir saw the first light in China with the rise of the School Songs. Lu Zaiyi, the representative of China's contemporary choir composer, has devoted himself to choir composing. This thesis studies the technique and style of his choir works so as to demonstrate his contribution to choir and states his role in the development of choir in China.There are three chapters. The first one is a general review of the development of choir in China, and then a overview of Lu Zaiyi's choir works.It describes the change of style in Lu Zaiyi's works and the influence of his composing ideas on choir composing as well. The second chapter is the analysis of the writing techniques and feateures of Lu Zaiyi's four representative choir works:Tune for Horse Driving,The Rainbow,Hard Is the Way of the World,On the 18th Birthday party. The third one is the analysis of form of Lu Zaiyi's choir works.It discussed according to types of form. The third chapters is also a discussion and summary of melody writing,harmony material and common writing techniques in Lu Zaiyi's choir works. Through the analysis this thesis means to summaries the features and values of Lu Zaiyi's choir works.
