The goal of this dissertation is provide an objective observation and research on Vasks' chamber music Gr?mata ?ellam(Book for Cello)and String Quartet No.2 Vasaras dzied?jumi(Summer Songs),and try hard to reveal the composing techniques at pitch and acoustics.As for pitch,it include the origin of the pitches,structure of harmony and the character of pitches' organization(e.g.distribution of pitches and mode of pitches' movement,e.t.),and as for acoustics,it include Vasks' s concept of acoustics,and also application of timbre(performance method of strings),etc.The essay which consist of four chapters analysis.The introduction expound the reason and meaning of the selected topic of this dissertation,and also the thought and method in the research.Chapter 1 states Vasks' s lifetime,representative works and his course of creation,then analyses how the cultural background influences Vasks' s musical language.From chapter 2 to chapter 3,the author analyses the two works in their common pitch structure and acoustics structure,besides them,the author expound the characteristic of every work.Conclusion summarizes the composing technique and thought of this two works,and also how them embody in other works by Vasks.At the same time,on this foundation,the author approach how tradition and modern concepts,inheritance and creation embodies in Vasks' s composing techniques,and also how the background of contemporary music influences Vasks' s creation and how Vasks makes great contribution in contemporary music.
