The article extends mainly around the establishment and development of Liu Tianhua's thought of Erhu,a school in Erhu art, and it makes detailed descriptions of the innovations that Liu has made in the artistic performance of Erhu,and the enrichment in its methodology, and the transitional effect his 4 direct successors have made in Erhu history,as well as the succession in the history of Erhu education since then, and current situation of that in order to explicily explain the impact of Liu's theory in the teaching system and the arts of performance. The article makes systmatic and synthetic analysis of authorized theories in bibliography using methods, like analysis, comparison, and literary appreciation. This article mainly focuses on the "creation" and "contribution", providing evidence of the contributions Liu's value of arts to the development of national music. This article extends into 4 chapters:Chaper One is "The impact of Liu's practice in the current education of Erhu". This chapter mainly concentrates on 4 aspects:"Performance, Creation, Composition and Teaching", aiming to describe the constructive practice at the preliminary phrase of Liu's thought about Erhu. Chapter Two is "The sccession of Erhu education". With the application of graphs and diagrams, the chapter makes clear of the succession of Erhu's education in the last century. Chapter Three is "The current situation of Erhu's teaching methodology". Ranging from the outlines of teaching aims in the Consevatories of Music, the compilation of textbooks, the development of the methodology in performance, this chapter described the current situation of the Erhu's successive development in teaching. Chapter Four is "The current situation of Erhu's artistic performance". This chapter extends around the topic of Erhu's development and envolution, giving significant evidence the lingering impact of Liu's thoughts about "absorption of the foreign" and "the combination of Chinese and foreign".The development of Erhu arts has proven Liu's school of thought is scientific and theoretical, and we are convicted that the succession of the art of Erhu would continue and the development be more splendid in the future.
