Character And Playing Skills Of Bartok's Five Piano Pieces 《Out Of Doors》

Bela-Bartok (1881-1945), is one of the most significant national music composers in the history, His works are mostly based on the material of peasant music, quote and reference their feature of tonality,rhythm.etc, composed a large number of works with distinctive national style. Piano works, mostly short ones, are almost his most magnificent works in his creative life, Among them are the five pieces《out of doors》which represents his peak level of piano pieces. This essay, with the explanation of staves, tries to analysis the character of this series, as well as to bring some of my idea of how to play these masterpieces. Split into 3 chapters and 6 sections, the essay expatiates on the commonness and connections of the five pieces, and the characteristic of how different piano players expressed when they played this series.Regardless of his outstanding position in music history, his piano works are not so popular and recognized in China yet. I try to introduce his piano works to more people with this essay so that more players will understand him and be happy to play his works.
