Because of its ideology and artistry, Red Classic National Opera has been deeply loved by many singers. This thesis, from the perspective of tone color in singing, aims to probe the function of tone color in moulding female characters in Red Opera. This thesis can be divided into three parts. First part states the definition of tone color and tone color in singing. What's more, it states the function of tone color in singing and the relationship between singing techniques and tone color, which those two have been carefully analyzed. In second part, the author takes three Red Opera as example: the red guards on Lake Hong, Red Coral and Sister Jiang. She does a comparative study on three main characters in these operas, they are Sister Shan, Hanying and Sister Jiang; and then she induces their common and individual characters and analysis the feature of that time and three characters'personality. The third part is the main one of whole thesis. it briefly discusses the music style of the three opera firstly, and then emphasis on the singing part of them, combined with singing, singing techniques and artistic manifestation to demonstrate how to use different tone color to mould these three heroine figures.
