"In that distant place"is the song written on the grave stone of Wang Luobing, Wang quoted the tune and phoneme of Kazakh folk song and composed it. It's a classical Chinese song whose influence spread across culture, age, language and races. Famous singers like Paul Robertson ,Domingo and Carreras all keep this song as their repertoire. This song was selected as Oriental Music teaching material by Conservatoire national supérieur de Paris, and was also seleted by Chinese music classics of the 20th century.Due to the origin, race and area reasons, vocal arts were divided into styles and genres. Chinese singing arts can be divided basically into three ways: Canto from the Italian , Chinese traditional folk music, popular singing prevalent since the 20th century the 80's . These different singing arts enjoy their own characteristics and fans.This essay studies the similarities of singing of Canto, Chinese folk music and popular music by investigating In that distant place . The systematical analysis of the use of voice in Canto, Chinese folk music and popular music will consolidate the Chinese music basis of artists and help them acquire western music teaching experience and understand the acoustic mechanism better.
