A Study On The Economic Development Of The Area Along Chongqing-Huaihua Railway

Construction of Chongqing-Huaihua Railway started on December 16,2001. The Construction of Chongqing-Huaihua Railway will exert a tremendous influence on the economic development of the area along the railway.Communications and transportation are the foundation of the national economy and the precursor of the economic development. If national economy is going to develop in a fast rate, an end must to be put to the backwardness of the communications and transportation. The construction of the main line of communications will exert a tremendous influence on the economic development of the area along the line. It not only will improve the connections of the area with the external world and bring about a great advance in infrastructure construction , natural resources exploiture,agricultural industrialization, industrialization, urbanization, tertiary industry's development but also promote the formation of economic zone along the railway. The construction of the railway will produce 5 kinds of motive forces.The communications and transportation of the area have made great progress, but some problems are still holding up the economic development. Since 1978,the economic strength of the area has strengthened markedly. Rural economy, industry and tertiary industry have been developing, and the distribution of economy has spread. Some problems still exist in economic development, such as the weakness of the foundation of the regionaleconomy, the backwardness of the infrastructure, the irrationality of economic structure, the imbalance of the distribution of economy, environmental pollution and soil erosion. History, nature, district, communications , technology and education account for these problems.The area along Chongqing-Huaihua Railway should take the opportunity to speed the construction of the economic zone along the railway. It should take the opportunity to develop the industries that will serve the construction of Chongqing-Huaihua Railway. It should adjust the economic structure. It should strengthen the infrastructure construction .It should cultivate the center cities and adjust the distribution of economy. It should strengthen the cooperation in the area and with the all-round areas. It should develop education and technology preferentially. It should otherwise strengthen the ecological construction and environmental protection.
