The Foreign Economic Relations Of China During New Democratic Society

The foreign economic relations of China during new democratic society was a process of an uninterrupted evolution. At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, in line with it's fundamental guiding ideology of the new democratic economy, the Communist Party of China, on the basis of the realization of maintaining independence and keeping the initiative of economy, established a system of controlled foreign trade that was composed mainly of the state-owned enterprises of foreign trade, with multiple sectors of the economy existing side by side. Meanwhile, according to characteristic of the international environment at that time, it carried out a foreign economic policy that it strengthened cooperation with the socialist camp that was composed mainly of the Soviet Union, but not to ignore economic association with capitalist countries. Besides, it permitted the transient existence of foreign enterprises. The eruption of the Korea War was the beginning of the evolutionary process. During the War, the economic relations worsened rapidly between China and the developed capitalist countries of the West and the economic cooperation was further strengthened between China and the socialist camp composed mainly of the Soviet Union, the foreign enterprises came under serious attack and the operation of privately owned enterprises that dealt with imports and exports were made a strong impact, so that the system of the Chinese foreign trade began to evolve towards state-owned monopolization. It made the evolution finished that the general line of the transition period was put forward and carried out. In this very period, while the economic cooperation between China and the socialist camp was strengthened continually, the economic association between China and the developed capitalist countries of the West was also resumed and developed to a certain extent, but the socialist transformation of privately owned enterprises that dealt with imports and exports were completed by many fashions. As a result, the state-owned monopolized foreign trade system was formed finally inChina. Besides, the foreign enterprises disappeared basically during this time. Therefore, it was marked that the foreign economic relations of new democratic nature ended up in China. This thesis studied the evolutional process all-sidedly. It affirmed fully the reasonability of the propositions that the Communist Party of China adhered to the principles of maintaining independence and keeping the initiative and equality and mutual benefit and emphasized that foreign trade gave service to industrialization and etc. in foreign economic association in this time and the gigantic achievement as a consequence. It also pointed out many limitations of the knowledge of the Communist Party ofChina in the territory of economic relations and the negative influence to the economic development of China as a consequence. Finally, it obtained the reference and enlightenment for the new time after reformation and opening to outside in the territory of foreign economic relations.
