With the reform and open up deepening , China has stepped up her pace of breaking up the telecom sector monopoly by introducing competition and offering users more alternatives. And after World Trade Organization (WTO) accession, the deregulation process has being accelerated to allow in more domestic and foreign competitors. Now the Chinese telecom construction enterprises must adapt to not only to the rules of market economy but also to the situation of globalization and international competition in the telecom sector. So how to let Chinese telecom construction enterprises heighten their awareness and make preparations for market competition rapidly and notably is a very important and urgent task for surviving and developing. ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) is one of the most important measures that can make the goal above been reached. But the application of this new advanced tecnology (also a new kind of strong tool for management) is so hard a pratice for Chinese telecom construction enterprises because of their comparatively disadvantages, such as duplicated construction, amateurish management and marketing as well as small-scale production. It needs serious, systematic and deep discussion. The study on this project is not only haveing theoretic meanings, but also practical meanings. The thesis is composed of four chapters. Chapter 1 gives a brief introduction of Chinese telecom construction enterprises' general characteristics, history, present structure, status and functions in the telecom industry, and then states that relying on advanced technologies and management will be one of the most important ways to meet both severe challenges and huge opportunities. Chapter 2 is an introduction of ERP's basic theory, function, etc. ERP systems' general implementprocess in Chinese telecom constructions enterprises is given next. Chapter 3 discusses the particularity of the applications of ERP for Chinese telecom constructions enterprises. Several modules suiting these enterprises are specialized theoretically with a real system illustration. Chapter 4 is a further discussion of the status in quo and the suggestion of a bran-new operation mode based on ERP systems for Chinese telecom construction enterprises.This thesis analyzes each kind of problems exiting in the practice systematically and comprehensively. Based on the theoretically analyses, practical and innovative countermeasures are given. It will be my pleasure that the study in this thesis would contribut to (even just a little) the developing of Chinese telecom construction enterprises.
