In the new century, the modernization drive of our country has made great achievement .At this time we compare socialist thought of MaoZedong and DengXiaoping in order to understand them better. The content of socialist thought of MaoZedong and DengXiaoping is very rich involving politics, economy, culture and so on. This thesis only compares their international strategic thought. The thesis is made up for three chapters. Chapter one reviews historical transition of international strategy of modern China. The general evolution of international strategy of modern China experiences from " Leaning to One Side ", "Fight with Two Enemies" , " One Line ", "the Most of Countries" , in MaoZedong's times to "Non-Alignment" and "No-Leading" in DengXiaoping's times. From the evolution, We can get an idea that MaoZedong and DengXiaoping hold different goals in their international strategic thought. MaoZedong mainly aims at propelling revolution in the world while DengXiaoping emphasizes favorable international environment for modernization drive of China more.Chapter two explains the commonness of international strategic thought between DengXiaoping and MaoZedong. Firstly, they all fight against Hegemonism. Although DengXiaoping and Maozedong live in different times, they are always the same in the point of fighting against Hegemonism. Fighting against Hegemonism is not only the natural requirement of socialism but also an important guarantee of the world peace. Secondly, both MaoZedong and DengXiaoping insist on maintaining independence and keeping the initiative. Maintaining independence and keeping the initiative are the fundamental aim of our diplomatic policy all the time. MaoZedong never gives up this aim no matter how austere the situation is. DengXiaoping develops MaoZedong's thought about maintaining independence and keeping the initiative by giving the thought new meaning namely real non-alignment according to the new times. Thirdly, both of them regard the national interest as the most importantprinciple of diplomatic practice. Since different international environment, MaoZedong puts security interest of China in the first place while DengXiaoping pays more attention to economic interest in the peace and development times. Fourthly, DengXiaoping and MaoZedong uphold peaceful coexistence principle. MaoZedong inherits peaceful coexistence thought from Lening and develops its range from different ideological countries to the same ideological countries. DengXiaoping extends this principle greatly. He creates a new idea which is called " One Country, Two Systems" to solve the problem of one country inside by peaceful coexistence principle. The last chapter explains emphatically DengXiaoping's development of international strategic thought of MaoZedong. At first, DengXiaoping corrects MaoZedong's judgement of the theme of the times. He brings forward " peace and development " as the theme of the times. Secondly, DengXiaoping develops the opening-up thought of MaoZedong from cracking door to opening up widely. Thirdly, DengXiaoping develops the international strategic thought. He changes MaoZedong's international strategic tactic thought according to the new international situation. At last DengXiaoping exceeds MaoZedong's idealism about international strategic thought. DengXiaoping's international strategic thought shows strong realism. This kind of realism makes his international strategic thought turn on highly flexible and pragmatic feature. In the time when we step into the 21st century, international strategy is playing an important role in the international world. Comparing international strategic thought of DengXiaopin and MaoZedong is helpful for us to interpret it deeply and it is also very essential to our formulating the more reasonable and suitable international strategy in the future.
