In recent years, there are many reports respecting expert evidence, many of them are concerned with the dishonesty and the disorder of the expert testimony. One of the most important reactions to these reports is that they result in the reconsideration of the system of expert evidence in China. In the whole, calling for reforming the nowadays system of expert evidence is overwhelming. On the other hand, owing to the different aspects considered by the different scholars, there are many different proposals for re-structuring the system. Under the leadership of this current, I'd like to express my own viewpoints with respect to the reform of expert evidence. By doing so, I want to review and sum up the courses that I have learned as a postgraduate. The paper is divided into four parts, more than 58,000 words in all.Part â…  will firstly discuss the different roles of expert evidence in international perspective, and then come to a conclusion guiding the re-constructing of expert evidence in China.Part â…¡ will concentrate on the forming of the expert testimony. By analysing the matters, such as the specialised issues, the stages applying expert evidence, selection of expert and the requirements for expert evidence, etc, several measures will be taken to guarantee the validity of expert evidence beforehand and in the course of forming.Part â…¢ will mainly discuss the procedures regarding examination of expert evidence and the responsibilities of the involved persons or institutions. Its purpose is to safeguard against misuse of expert evidence after it has come into being. On the basis of the foregoing three parts, Part â…£ will put forward with some proposals for reforming the system of expert evidence in China.
