Feudal constitutional thought is the basic concept about political community in the medieval West, which deals with the interaction among ruler, law and community. After sketching the feudal political order the dissertation describes the two main features of feudal constitutional thought: kings under law and contractual democracy. 'Kings under law' in the perspective of legal thought negatively expounds that rulers' power, not their own privacy but an instrument to execute the law, confines in the rule of law. 'Contractual democracy' from political theory positively deliberates the democratic idea embedded in the negotiable politics based on feudal relation. In the history of western constitutional thought the medieval constitutional acts as a bridge linking the classics political thought and modern political theory.
