With the gradual establishment of the socialist market-oriented economic structure and the acceleration of the marketization process of the insurance industry in our country, the insurance industry, which is an organic part of modern market-oriented economy, has penetrated into every field of our social economic life. The broad masses of the insured demand for better services, meanwhile, the insurers constantly readjust their products and services to satisfy the demands. Therefore, the market competition grows more intense, the technology of insurance more complicated, the subjects of market more diverse, and the insurance industry itself takes on the trend of socialization and specialization.The insurance media act the bridge and link between the insurer and insured. They play an indispensable part in the insurance market. Although the insurance media get off to a late start in our country, they demonstrate strong tendency of development not only in the subjects of management, but also in the scope of business. This paper holds that to attain rapid and healthy development, the insurance industry in our country should count on the existing strength of the insurance companies, as well as the assistance of various insurance media, to create a favorable prospect for its development. Based on the points mentioned above, this paper contends that our country should lose no time to grasp the opportunity to develop the system of insurance media, learn from the developed countries the successful operating experiences, expand the space for the development of the subjects and accelerate its cultivation and development.The first chapter of this paper illustrates the necessity of the cultivation and development of the insurance medium market form three aspects: the improvement of the unsymmetrical situation of the insurance transaction information through the efforts of the insurance media, the establishment of the system of the insurance media as an important channel for the expansion of the insurance industry and as the objective demand for the development of the industry in the market-oriented economy.The second chapter analyzes the present state of the development of the insurancemedium market, including the achievements made in recent years and the existing problems, and it goes further to a brief analysis of the causes of the problems.The third chapter makes a comparative analysis of the modes of the insurance medium systems in the developed western countries, such as Britain, America and Japan, and through the comparison of the characteristics of the medium modes in these three countries, it sums up the experiences our country could draw on and absorb in the process of developing such a mode.The last chapter puts forward the strategies to expand and strengthen the insurance media in the future, clarifies the direction of their development in our country, and advances the responding measures to create a favorable environment for the development of insurance media and to enhance the overall competitive power of insurance medium companies.
