Quantitative Study On Rural Households' Consuming Behavior In Sichuan Province

Consumption is the purpose of production, also is a basic motive to develop economy. In the transition from a centralized planning economy to market oriented economy, the consumers' behavior has an important influence to the national economy. Sichuan Province is a big province in agriculture, of which rural economy is outstanding in national economy. In recent years, rural shortage in consumption demand is an important factor to baffle national economy, and directly influences Sichuan strategy target of "New Century, New Development". Therefore, quantitative positive study on the rural households' consuming behavior in Sichuan Province and exploring the inside regulation is important in theories and realistic meaning, which is beneficial to help the Government to establish the rural consumption policy and expand the rural consumption market; to guarantee the macro economy safe circulation; to keep the national economy developing continuous, stable and healthy.Study on consumers' behavior includes two aspects: consumption level and consumption structure. This paper summarizes research fruits of predecessors about consumers' behavior at home and abroad first; after analyzing the status quo, the paper systematically studies the rural households' consuming behavior in Sichuan Province with consumption level and consumption structure. In the aspects of consumption level, the article establishes and analyzes the classic models of consumption function first; the error correction model(ECM) is the latest development in studying on consumption function, which is an effective tool to overcome "spurious regression", so, the thesis establishes ECM of the rural households' consuming behavior in Sichuan Province, using the mechanism of error correction to expatiate the long-term and short-term factor that influences consumption demand. In the aspects of consumption structure, the author makes use of the theories of the linear expenditure system(ELES) model, establishes rural households' ELES models by geography groups and pure income level groups; and analyzes the quantitative characteristics in the two kinds classification respectively with flexibility theories. Based on the research above, the author analyzes main reasons of rural shortage in consumption demand in Sichuan Province; last, some measures to exploit rural consumption market and expand rural households' consumption demand are put forward.
