Time Choice For Entry Of Foreign Banks In Beijing And Shanghai: A Survival Analysis

This paper carries out an empirical study about time choice of foreign banks entering Beijing and Shanghai, and its aim is to analyze the factors determining when foreign banks will build branches in Beijing and Shanghai. It was found that time choice of foreign banks entering Beijing and Shanghai is affected not only by particular attributes of foreign banks, such as assets and soundness, but also by business circumstances of Beijing and Shanghai, such as the degree of openness and direct investment. What's more, these factors have different function on time choice of foreign banks entering the two cities. In the end of paper, advice is provided about how to attract foreign banks in Beijing and Shanghai and how to establish a perfect and harmonious financial environment. And at the same time, the paper also points out the way foreign banks should follow to ensure long-time profitability.
