At the background of the global financial crisis in 2008, a large number of workers outside have returned their home and thereafter this kind of situation leads to an awareness of "there is nothing meaningful at home, nor outside", which draws great attention of society. This group of people is defined "returning migrant workers". These workers are a kind of label of society, which refers to those people who were born in countryside or have lived there for a long time have a working experience in city for at least six months but have returned home when investigated. This exploratory study divides into mainly four parts. The first part focuses on the origins of the study, the current studies at home and abroad and the methods of this study. The second part shows the current sense of home recognition of the workers and the effective factors. The third part tries to bring up some theoretical analysis. The last part draws a conclusion of the current sense of recognition of the workers and puts forward some constructive suggestions. The previous exploratory study shows that after the expeience in cities, the sense of recognition at home is stronger than that in cities. Latter, the empirical studies suggest that the sense of home recognition is weaker than that before the workers went outside. This phenomenon results from work time outside, social insurance, support from hometown and satisfaction with home life and so on. The longer the workers work outside, or the better the social insurance is, or the less they take part in the country fellow party, or the less support from home, or the less they contact with each other, or the less attractive their hometown is, or the less they know about their hometown, or the less satisfaction they gain from home life, the more possible that they produce a weaker sense of recognition towards their hometown. The study shows that the returning workers have a weaker and weaker sense of recognition towards their homes, yet they still have a strong sense of returning home. The majority of them bear a vague understanding of their own identities in their mind. They have difficulties in accepting themselves as citizens, but at the same time they feel that they are quite different from those people who have never worked outside. Most of them hold that they are just pass-bys in the cities and cities are not their real homes, but the hometowns of their own. This study aims at putting forward some strategies, such as rearranging the systems and moulding home attractiveness, to improve ang foster their sense of recognition towards home.
