Change In Female Roles And Female Crime

In the 20^th century, women in China have undergone tremendous changes in many aspects, from traditional women to modern women in society roles, from private sector to public domain in their activity scope, from a simple family role to a family and society role. Thus, women's rights and freedom have been emancipated and the social function of women has played a significant part in social life. However, there are more and more crimes committed by them which endanger the society. This article will trace the causes of modern women's crime in social aspect and advocate the idea that it is the injustice and unfairness in social policies that hinder the change in female roles and consequently lead to female crime. In addition, there is a classic western criminology theory to demonstrate my theme. After finding out the causes of female crime, we should remedy the current situation and take measure to prevent it from happening.The paper mainly consists of four parts.The first part focuses on the process of role changes for Chinese female, the change of whom is a change from traditional women to modern women. This chapter will introduce reasons for the formation of traditional women and their role orientation, and reveal the reaction of their roles for social development. Then it comes to introduce the whole change process in both family roles and social roles of women after they went through the 1911 Revolution, the May 4th Movement and witnessed the changes that a new China brought to them. Finally, the part will talk about the basic features of contemporary Chinese female roles.The second part puts emphasis on the change and impact of female role change on female crime. This chapter first introduces the changes in the quantity, types, methods and objects of female crime caused by female role change. Then it comes to the influence of traditional female role and modern female role on female crime.The third part holds the opinion that modern female's social role change is hampered by injustice and unfairness in some social policies such as policies of education, employment, salary system and social security, being supported by an argument from the Western Fundamental Criminology. All the imperfectness leads to female crime.The fourth part puts forward the countermeasure for female crime in the background of female role change. We should encourage the positive attitude in female role change, facing the current situation. The should discard traditional gender concept and build up modern gender concept. We should actively guide the change in female's value and lifestyle and give them psychological counseling to help them adapt to the modern female role. We should reform the unfair education, employment and welfare policies and promote the positive development of female roles. In addition, for female criminals, we should adjust the criminal policies to facilitate their early rehabilitation.
