Salmon·P·Chase who was a contemporary politician with President Lincoln was the sixth Chief Justice of the United States . This article cuts four parts to discusses Salmon ? P ? Chase's Growth and Political Career. The fist part discusses the Salmon·P·Chase Biography, from the death of his father in his childhood to the political education in his youth and turning to politics. As a staunch abolitionist, he joined the Christian Revival movement in the United States and in which he performed an important role. Because of this effort he was elected to the Senate, then he began to emerge in the U.S. political arena and was elected governor of Ohio in 1885.The second part introduces Chase's Minister of Finance career. Although at this time some political views of Chase was at odds with the president and showed strong political ambitions, but in the civil war, he insisted on principle on many major issues and played a positive role. He controlled the government purse strings, so in the Civil War's his main job is to raise funds to provide a solid funding for the war, in this regard Chase's effort can be said valuable. In the Civil war, U.S. economy had fallen into complete collapse, Chase made every effort to expand the government finances by increasing taxes, issuing a large number of bonds. In the process of issuing legal tender----the back of the green backing paper Chase performed leadership and wisdom. However, after electing the senator and the governor, his political aspirations had gone up, being the president became his dream in life. From his deep heart, he looked down Lincoln, his achievements in the financial and some people within the party and the community had helped his political ambitions. He made a strong suppression for his political opponents and dissidents, trying to form his own absolute superiority in the cabinet. This had deepened contradictions of him and President Lincoln who completely lost confidence in him and lifted his post of Minister of Finance. However, in the competition with Lincoln, Chase had not bent in the end. When he discovered the strength of support for Lincoln was so strong, and the war situation is rapidly improving, he gradually changed position. Later, Chase reconciled initiatively and joined the campaign team for Abraham Lincoln re-election day and night. Thus Chase was still a very realistic politician. The third part focused on the Chase's Chief Justice career. As a lawyer and constitutional scholar he became the first choice for the post of Lord Chancellor. Also, he received some criticism, but he led the court coming through a very difficult period. He insisted that the case of Johnson impeachment was only a justice rather than the legislative process problem in order to maintain the independence of the courts to improve the political status of the Supreme Court. Chase respected the separation of powers of the United States. Based on this, Chase led the Supreme Court to stay away from the partisan and maintained its independence and improved its social status. The biggest flaw of Chase is his political ambitions, and his excessive desire for the presidency is not only affected his performance in the civil war and career, but also his political reputation and historical evaluation.
