| In the world's oil and gas exploration and production field, offshore oil and gas exploration and production is very important. It has enormous resource reserve and well exploration prospect. While mobile drilling platform becomes an indispensable device during offshore oil exploration and exploitation. In modern times, offshore drilling platforms have huge size, complex technology and high price. Once meet an accident, the loss would be enormous. At the same time, market resources, natural environment, political and other factors affect the offshore drilling market. That is why the offshore drilling market has strong uncertainty and high investment risks. It is natural that market needs some risk-sharing measures. People had concerned on the mobile offshore drilling platform insurance, especially after the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in the April 20,2010.This paper is divided into five parts. In the first part, the paper overviewed the mobile offshore drilling platform, introduced the prospect of mobile offshore drilling platform's character and explained that people insured on the mobile offshore drilling platform is very necessary. In the second part, the paper analyzed the mobile offshore drilling platform's legal status, clarified legal nature of the mobile offshore drilling platform insurance and cleared the applicable legal norms of mobile offshore drilling platform insurance. In the third and forth part, this paper analyzes the format terms of this insurance, using the basic principles of maritime law and insurance law, as well as the drilling barge all risks of the people's insurance company (group) of China. These parts mainly discussed the insured's principle obligations, the assurer's principle obligations and some special compensation. In the last part, the paper sums up the insurance problems that exist in practice, and suggests the amendments of drilling barge all risks.
